WILD PONIES

Wild Ponies exude a full, confidently reckless sound but on the other hand at times it’s as though Telisha is sitting right beside you, fingers on your shoulder, whispering in your ear.

Their songs pull from all manner of sources - poetic tweens, Catawba trees, homophobic politicians, dying small towns, and tarot cards. The tie that binds them all together is the thread of moments and memories, of cycles and seasons, that make up a life well-lived.
Doug - “My favourite songwriters are all people who are curious, who are always looking at words and connections and asking questions - people who pick things up in strangers' houses just to see what the bottom side of the ash tray looks like.”

As independent artists in an uncertain world, Doug and Telisha know they are lucky to be in this Wild Ponies thing. Sure, there are some trade-offs, but that's just the cost of doing business. “To be honest, for us, there aren’t a lot of cons,” Telisha muses. “It’s all an adventure, and we’re in it together — literally, every single mile. Since we’ve been traveling more as a band over the past couple of years, we’re even more aware of how fortunate we are to get to share this dream.”

“Wild Ponies just might be Americana’s new dark horses” – Michael Bialas, Huffington Post
“It’s a terrific, raw, robust sound these guys have going on” – Kim Ruehl, No Depression
“Wild Ponies swing emotional wrecking balls with great delicacy” – M Music & Musicians Magazine

JOHN CRAIGIE
Musically comparable to John Prine, with the humour and wit of Mitch Hedberg, the humble, gracious and hilarious John Craigie is one of the best storytellers of our time. It’s no wonder that Chuck Norris sends him fan mail, and Todd Snider brings him gifts on stage.

“John Craigie is a dude. Craigie presents himself as no more than that but he’s a tremendously talented dude with a guitar and a great voice that can tell a funny story. Craigie can follow that story up with an even better song.” – Glide Magazine

Born and bred in California, Craigie has charmed audiences in all 50 United States and throughout much of Europe, with a DIY spirit seldom seen these days. While touring solo and with the likes of Todd Snider, the Shook Twins, Nicki Bluhm, and ALO, he has taken the stage at festivals, sold out venues, intimate house concerts, center camp at Burning Man and even Gregory Alan Isakov’s farm.

He’ll make you laugh and make you cry, all in the same song. With a fan-base that is more of a continually-expanding circle of friends, his true passion is connecting with people through shared experiences, stories, and song.

John Craigie finds his niche in delicate storytelling, via his voice and guitar. His new release ‘No Rain, No Rose’ is a beautiful collection of carefully selected stories, featuring many collaborations with close friends, including The Shook Twins and Gregory Alan Isakov. Regarding the title of the album, Craigie explained, “I took it from an old Buddhist saying ‘No Mud, No Lotus’, which basically means, you need the bad things to make the good things. I changed it to reflect my rainy city of roses…” paying respects to his current home in Portland, Oregon.
