Like many good music stories, Bad With Phones begins in a small Black church. Raised in Deptford, South East London, Bad With Phone's - or Manny to his friends - first attraction to music came after being drawn to the bass guitar, which he discovered through his pastor father's church. BWP started playing in the church band where he would secretly play secular R&B riffs in the middle of church proceedings for his own amusement, sparking his rebellious counterculture spirit. Inspired by the likes of Bootsy Collins, BWP found inspiration from Black artists who went against the grain and were celebrated for it.
Attending Westminster University with fellow classmates Michael Kiwanuka and Paolo Nutini, where BWP developed his knowledge, songwriting and musical performance; a stint in Berlin would later introduce the world of psychedelics, spirituality and the foundations for his own Bad With Phones music.
Soaking up all the experiences life has given him BWP is ready to hack the culture with a forthcoming mixtape project. Expect a cross contamination of electronic beats, guitar and R&B.
