With a voice described by Americana UK as ‘Superb… distinctive and interesting’, guitar accompaniments described by A&R Factory as ‘One of the most beautifully poised, tentative guitar progressions I’ve heard in a long time’ and songwriting described by Fresh on The Net as ‘A little slice of heaven’, Jeremy Johnson has become a sought-after singer-songwriter and performer on the European and UK contemporary folk scene.
It is little wonder then that since becoming a full-time musician in 2018 and despite choosing to remain independent and self managed, Jeremy has been asked to provide live support for Scott Matthews, Ben Ottewell (Gomez), The Feeling and Paddy James. Strong support from BBC Introducing, including a performer slot at Hay Festival and airplay on Tom Robinson’s 6 music show has helped Jeremy settle into the UK music scene. But this perpetual nomad is never more happy than playing shows in new places, continuing to tour extensively through Holland, Germany, France, Spain and Portugal in his self-converted camper van ‘Greenie’.
Even before Pinfeather had a name, Fresh on The Net described the trio’s sound as ‘A little slice of heaven’. The earliest murmurs of Pinfeather stretch back to the city of Groningen in the north of the Netherlands, where the three members, Netherlands natives Marije De Vries, Masha Schenkel and the British Jeremy Johnson were to meet through the flourishing yet underground Dutch music scene.
With echoes of Iron and Wine, The Staves and Bon Iver, but with a sonorous dream-like quality of their own making, Pinfeather is set to be a soothing and welcome addition to the European alt and contemporary folk scene.
