Owen Kennedy / Collars / Substation

  • The Smokehouse 6 South Street Ipswich, England, IP1 3NU United Kingdom (map)

Owen Kennedy is an artist living in London. Though he has worked as a singer from a very young age, it was whilst studying music at university that his desire to write was fully realised. He ran open mic nights under the pseudonym Cornelius Peach to help give a platform to musicians, actors, and poets resulting in the creation of new and immersive art styles.

Owen was first introduced to his distinctive jazz style through his grandfather Leonard Luckhurst, who played jazz as a musician in the 60s. Combined with classical musical influences and lyrical nods to introspection and connection, Owen’s sound combines a youthful rock sound with witty jazz changes alongside strong vocals to create a sound that is distinctly thought-provoking.

Nowhere is this perhaps more evident than on his debut EP Mr Free, which surrounds the case of Mr Free, a drifter searching for home.

Support comes from Collars and Substation.
